UTVA LASTA (Swallow) – Modern and Economical Military Training Aircraft
UTVA LASTA (Swallow) is a modern, piston-engined, fully aerobatic military training aircraft. It has a tandem seating arrangement, two wing weapon stations and is characterised by its low purchase and operating costs.
LASTA, designed for basic and initial flight training, can also be used in the initial stages of classical unguided weapons training and advanced training. In this way, it saves time and money by replacing two or three different aircraft during the training process. When used effectively in an intensive and integrated training program, it provides high-quality training without the need for additional transition training, incorrect learning and relearning, and creates a significant cost advantage.
Superior Performance and Security
Unlike turbo-prop aircraft, LASTA stands out with its aerobatic engine and propeller that provide instant power change. Thanks to its excellent flight characteristics, it offers a safe and suitable training platform, especially for inexperienced pilot candidates.
Fully Digital Cockpit and Superior Viewing Angle
LASTA has a fully digital cockpit and is equipped with analogue redundant instruments. Both seats feature a dual-screen instrument cluster (PFD and MFD), engine and fuel monitoring systems and individual throttle and control levers for both student and instructor.
The large bubble canopy design provides unobstructed visibility to the front, rear, above and to the sides, a critical advantage for low altitude navigation and attack training. From the front seat, the approach runway is clearly visible with an additional 2° of visibility.
High Hardware Level and Versatile Use
LASTA's fast turn rate, the possibility of use with light and training weapon systems (weapons training, close air support - CAS/COIN, air patrol) and low operating cost make it a unique aircraft in its category.
Certification and Production
LASTA was designed by the Military Technical Institute and is manufactured by UTVA Aircraft Industry Ltd. It is currently in the final stages of certification in the EASA CS-23 aerobatic and general aviation categories.
